Wait a minute...doesn't the PFHA...?Give out FREE Paco the Paso Fino coloring books? I know they sure do at the shows. I have heard over and over and over again about how people see no reason to be a member since the association doesn't do anything for them. But really, is the association the only ones at fault here? Wether you are a paso owner, breeder, trainer, or whatever, you can benefit from that free paso fino coloring book. How? Well as an owner we could be leaving the coloring book at feed stores etc. to grab attention then teaching other riders in our own areas what a paso feels like to ride and attracting more pasos to ride with. As a breeder this is a free tool to use for marketing to people in your own area to generate potential sales AND have new people to ride with. As a paso fino trainer you may just end up with new paso owners in your area that need your training, lesson, or boarding services or any combination plus new pasos to trail ride and/or show with. I think this is a free tool has been very looked past. It tells all about the paso fino from cover to cover explaining how, why, and from what the paso fino came to be,when they came to the USA, and how they are smooth with no bounce, different and special. That to me spells free marketing tool!!! And aren't there lots of pasos out there right now that are good and in need of good people that would love to add such a horse to their family? Yes, with this economy especially, I am positive there is.Maybe all of US could be helping those horses simply by leaving a few coloring books when we're at our local farm and feed stores. Free and not even any extra effort. I'll be sending in Monday a request for some and I hope you all will as well. Give one to all of your testers/first time paso fino riders. Put your contact info on it. And I believe you don't even have to be a current member to get them, how much easier could that be ?!!

I agree! The association doesnt have to give us anything! WE ARE THE ONES who if we truly love this breed and our horses should contribute and support our association through our membership. JMO
So, support your breed! If you care...........if not, shut up and I really don't want to here you excusing your self as why you are not a member ............. VIVA EL PASO FINO! and every association in the WORLD that represents our breed.
Lets not forget WE ARE THE ASSOCIATION you and me.........
PS. if you cant afford the membership, ask your PASTOR for a donation

sorry but the PFHA discontinued the coloring books some time ago. Unless a decision has been recently made to revive the coloring book, if you have one, it probably will become a collector's item!

I called the PFHA and you are correct,HOWEVER,they will make a copy of the book and mail it to you so that you can copy it. Also there is a new one in the works!! And this is GREAT!! Once the new one is ready we will have that one available to us and ALSO the ability to copy the other. What makes this so great is that there will be different information in the new one so instead of one coloring book you can give two and get even more info out there!! For now, I will make this offer...if you would like a copy of the Paco the Paso Fino coloring book but are not a member and don't want to call the PFHA PM me the mailing address to send the copy to and I will make you a copy free and mail it to you free. Let's support our breed and share the wonderful gift of the paso fino with all those out there that can still aford a horse and would love to know about them!!! In this economy especially,we need to get creative and all take some part of responsibility for promotion of the breed we love so much inorder to help as many as we can end up with GOOD homes. We all have this ability to indirectly help paso finos we've never even met, let's stand tall and walk the walk instead of just talking the talk. Your friend,Moniece

Ok, my apologies for wrecking this thread.
This is exactly what I'm talking about on another thread.
http://pasovoice.com/about1697.html
Here's the idea:
1. Scan the coloring book. I've seen it. It is all black and white except the cover.
2. Take the scanned document and convert it into a format that is readily downloadable such as pdf or even keep it as a graphic file.
3. Upload it to the PFHA host server.
4. Create a link using the scanned cover of the book on the PFHA website so when the link is clicked you can:
a. download the entire coloring book
b. download only a page at a time
c. or simply flip through the pages like an on-line catalog.
5. NOTE: the availability has to be done to minimize bandwidth on the server
The book is small. It won't take up much memory and it makes the book free to the WORLD.
It is feasible, the cost is minimal and the reward--well do we have to have one?
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Tell you what, I'll just do it myself. I've been wanting to experiment with downloading files from my site, so this will be a great test about bandwidth requirements.
EDIT: The Prelude has started. I called PFHA office and requested a copy of the coloring book. It should arrive by the end of the week.

coloring bookI would love to have a copy of the coloring book. What a great idea to get people aware of the breed by distributing it around town. How come I didn't think of that. If Big J does do the scanning I would love to have it. We can prevail! Thanks for the idea.
