I would like to invite everyone interested in attending our trail ride that is going to take place on May 3rd at Iron Mountain Horse Camp in the Jefferson National Park. This Park is connected to the Mount Rogers National park and the Virginia Highlander trail. Together they offer over hundreds of miles of trail riding. We now have this ride qualified with the PFHA as a Sanctioned Pleasure Long Distance Trail Ride. This means that when you finish a ride over 10 miles you will earn points on your horse and can qualify for the rewards offered at the end of the year. Also your points are never lost. Your points will accumulate on that particular horse and with enough points earned you could earn your TOP Title of Proficiency" award and also the LEM "Legend of Merit" Award. So lets get to earning some points and show the other regions where READY TO RIDE!

News Release from the Breeder’s Sweepstakes Committee:

Buy Back Period Extended until May 15th!

Stallion eligibility to the Breeder’s Sweepstakes classes for stallions that did not receive bids by March 1, 2008 has now been extended to May 15th. You may qualify your stallion that participated in the Stallion Service Auction last fall as a Breeder’s Sweepstakes stallion by paying a nomination fee of $200 by May 15, 2008.

Nominating your stallion will also give you one free nomination to the 2010 Breeder’s Sweepstakes classes. Also, any other of your stallion’s foals conceived in 2008 will be eligible to participate in the 2010 Breeder’s Sweepstakes classes by the yearlings’ owners paying a $200 nomination fee plus the class entry fee.

The Breeder’s Sweepstakes classes are Bellas Formas classes, one class for yearling colts and one for yearling fillies. The amount of the cash payout to winners in these classes is dependent on the number of stallions that qualified as Breeder’s Sweepstakes stallions and the number of yearlings that participate in the Breeder’s Sweepstakes classes.

Benefits of your stallion becoming a Breeder’s Sweepstake stallion:

Excellent marketing tool to increase the perceived value of breeding to your stallion
Change for your stallion to win Ponderosa Coloso Memorial Cup and prize money based on highest number of offspring winning in 2010 Breeder’s Sweepstakes or other prize money from offspring placing in the competition
Offspring have an increased perceived value due to their chance of winning prize money in Breeder’s Sweepstakes
Chance to have your stallion’s offspring showcased at Nationals in the Breeder’s Sweepstakes
