Somebody please save these horses!!I found this ad and just from reading the ad it seems like these 2 geldings need saved from the rescue group that has them. (I did send them an email setting them straight about a couple things they had wrong in their ad)
They are twin geldings and the adoption fee is only $250 each. I would take them if they were in driving distance.

Cristy, I remember a while back seeing the entire fiasco! they had pictures of the rescuer arriving on the property.
I wonder if they still look this bad, if they do, I dont think they are yet NOT set to take a long trip to Miami or anywhere, JMO .
Do you know if they have updated pictures? I noticed the last update was 11/2007

How sad. Wish I was closer, and, If I had hay secured for the next year, I would at least foster Them here on the farm. Hay is my problem. Would like to see updates

Cristy, any luck getting the updated pictures! those pictures are from Nov. I am thinking by personal experiece, that takes around 6 months to bring a horse around. I will like to know the condition of those horses, for both of them to take a long trip! to Florida.
Please let me know!

I asked for current pics but no response yet. I will post them as soon as I get them. I REALLY hope they look better than they do in the pics. It just breaks my heart!!!

Do you know if they can be adopted out of state? I know some organizations do not allow that. Gosh, I wish I could do something for those poor horses. I just can't get them off my mind. Keep us updated, please?

OMG!!! I asked for pics, I told them I might have a friend in FL who would adopt both if they were in good enough shape to make the trip safely. This is the response I got...
Viento is available. Vistoso is being adopted. They are up in Oklahoma. One requirement before adopting is the meet the horse which would be hard to do if you live in Florida. We are not in favor of people adopting horses sight unseen. Are you wanting gaited horses or Paso's specifically?
I basically told them that this is a ridicluous requirement, and that after reading their ad it is obvious that they know nothing about Pasos and that these guys really needed to be in the hands of a Paso person, that they are not quarter horses and should not be treated as such. (you know, cowboyed) This is one of the things that really jacks me about these horse rescue places, who the hell are they to decide if you are worthy when they are the ones the horse needs rescued from now?!

I was afraid of that! That's why I posted the question earlier, about adopting out of state. You would think they'd be happy someone with a lot of experience with rescue Pasos is even interested to help! I do not want to see them go to some cowboy, who will treat them as just horses. Don't anybody take offense, please, I like all breeds of horses. Just don't agree with some people who 'own' them.... I want them to go to a 'Paso Home', these guys seem to have a lot of issues, besides their weight. I would also like to see them get adopted together, even if they would have to be separated awhile once thy get to a new home. Less stress. Traveling is stress!!!
Oh crap, I'm ready to go get them right now! If it was up to me, I'd be on the road as we speak
BTW, this is one of the reasons I quit volunteering at the shelter. Sometimes they rather put an animal to sleep, than to let it go to a 'certain(good)home'. You are so right, they know nothing about Pasos!
I'm not giving up on those boys...

Cristy, now you see part of the problem...... is great that they do background checks, but their policies (not generalizing) makes you wonder.....
Marleen, I am with you.......

I am sure they would be happy to take money from anywhere in the country though. And even without a background check. Anytime I hear the word "rescue" these days in reference to anything I have to choke back the vomit.

Cindy, I cant agree with you more! I get calls everyday for rescue horses along with a price tag of $1,500 to $2,500, go figure!
Cristy! did you tell them to update the picture too! I think is very disrespectful to show a picture from 11/2007.......

They emailed me back and basically told me that since I disagreed with thier policy that they would not adopt to me.
NOW I am annoyed!! I emailed them back and told them that I had no intentions of adopting from them and that I am just TRYING to help them find a SUITABLE home, so I cross posted their ad on a Paso Fino forum and that a member is interested and wants to see recent pics...and that if they really do want to find him a good home to please just send me the pics.
STUPID PEOPLE SUCK!!

Yeah, we used to call those people "horse traders". Now they call themselves "horse rescues" They still smell the same though.

I actually called them today. The lady was rude on the phone! I basically got no info, I don't even know if recent pics are available. This organization is based in Texas, the horses are in foster care in Oklahoma, and to be honest, I don't think one knows what the other one is doing. Poor management. I really hope they find good homes. They sooo deserve it!
This whole thing just makes me so mad.

But you can be sure they know exactly how much cash is in their BANK ACCOUNT!!!!!

cristy

I am sorry they were rude to you, it is proably my fault, I was a little pushy about the whole situation.
These people make me mad, sometimes I think the horses would be better off if they just put them down. Makes you wonder what kind of care they are really getting.

No Cristy, it's not your fault! They are just plain rude, they have no idea what they're dealing with, and I really don't think they care. Rescue? My foot! Like Felix said, the money in the bank is what counts. People don't do anything just out of the kindness of their hearts anymore. It all comes back to $$$ eventually.
Keeping my fingers crossed for a happy ending.

Cristy! try calling the one in South Florida! you will be lucky if they answer the freaking phone!!!
|
cristy

they have a beautiful gelding at the one is south Fl, I would LOVE to get me hands on, He looks just like my old PPR gelding when he was young. BUT they don't adopt out to out of staters.
They suck, they all want to cry about all the unwanted horses but then act like this when someone really wants to help.
|
cristy
|
ya know they are just like the stupid people from the dog and cat shelters, they make a big deal and want everyone to adopt but then when you actually try they make you jup through hoops and bend over backwards and sign your name in blood. It is all just really unbelieveable to me!
|
caliber

but they sure take DONATIONS from China if you are willing to pay!
