PPR interest increasingI would like to know how the interest in the PPR breed is at this moment in the US. It’s increasing? Breeders are comfortable with what they have? Are they interest in buying, sale, AI, Puerto Rican shows and events? I would like to know your opinion on these guys. Thanks in advance!

I have a couple friends that breed PPR and they have both mentioned that all the interest they have received lately has been with the PPR horses. I personally have increased my PPR 's because it is what I like and what I want to produce.

I have not for a while but plan on it in the near future. It is just not in the cards for this yrea but I plan to have my act together for next summer. I have a off the chart georgous yearling filly that really needs to be in Bella forma next year.

Well, I will say that I have been fortunate to sell all of my colts/geldings by 1 yr of age with next to no advertising other than my website. (And not at rock bottom give away prices either!) People want the gait and they want quality. There are an abundance of free horses. You can even find cheap gaited horses, but there is a difference with this breed in more ways than one! People are looking for the cadillac ride of extreme comfort and smoothness with gentle disposition. We as breeders need to continue to cherish and uphold this breed as the elite royalty that they are. There are many breeds of horses (many of which I truly admire) but this breed holds my heart. I don't want to sell used toyotas...I want to offer the Rolls!
And that market may be small, but I feel that this breed deserves that status.

Well Cristy, you sound like you have everything under control. You have your goals set up and I admire that, also because you choose the ppr breed for your herd. Remember to post some pics and I wish you good luck with your plans.

Two days ago I was holding a personal tame clinic and the person I was teaching curse the ppr breed just because he prefers Colombian horses, Of course he didn’t have to wait for my answer and give it special delivery… but what really bother me is the fact that he is puertorican, cursing his own breed.
That’s why I said you give me strength, because you guys embrace this breed as your own and protected and appreciate even more than the people who have receive this gift from God and don’t realize the importance and unique of the ppr breed. More than 500 years, one of the most antiques breeds of the new world and some puertoricans don’t give a penny if the breed disappears by tomorrow. I like to continue reading good news of my breed in US, as I always say… they (ppr’s) are better treat it and more appreciate it on US than here. Bear with me, please.
