Ponce 2008 (Interview Video with Ed Smith)

Ferrum

I would like to thank PasoVoice, Tony and Mr Edward Smith for the opportunity to
go to the Ponce Meeting and ask our question about the Puerto Rican Paso Fino and the possibility of a category or exhibit exclusively for horses of the Puerto Rican Paso Fino Breed.

Our question was the first. This is how is was sent out to Tony

"Dear Mr. Smith,

I am writing you in behalf of a group of enthusiast of the Pure Puerto Rican Paso Fino.  I must say that we are thrilled with your visit to the island to attend the International Show at Ponce, and are looking forward to meeting you at the Press Conference tomorrow.

The purpose of our letter is to ask you about the PFHA and the possibility of including our breed in your future plans and shows.  As you might know, the majority of Pure Puerto Rican Paso Finos owners have opted not to show together with Colombian Paso Finos.  There are a many reasons for this decision, but all come down to the belief that they are different breeds and the actual show ruling tends to favor Colombians.

Basically, we want to know if you have any plans for the Pure Puerto Rican Paso Finos?  And, if there could be the possibility, to present an exhibition of our horses at PFHA shows?

Sincerely,

Jose Llenin
Romualdo Olazabal
Jo-Ann Ferre-Crossley
Michael Rivera

Mr Ed Smith answered that the PFHA accepts Puerto Rican Paso Fino horses for registration and that there is also the Pure Puerto Rican Paso Fino Federation of America to promote these horses. The PFHA is dedicated to the promotion of all bloodlines that are part of the Paso Fino in different parts of the world.

I felt the question about if the Puerto Rican Paso could have a distinct category and or exhibit was not answered, ( probably because the question was too long and the translator and microphones made it hard to hear clearly) So, I asked Tony if I could ask Ed Smith at the end of all the other questions if a distinct Category  or Exhibit could be granted for the Puerto Rican Paso Fino Horse breed at PFHA shows.

But then someone motioned to Tony " No more Questions". Yet Tony kindly pointed out I could ask Ed Smith Face to face.

After the conference Mr Edward Smith was kind enough to grant me a few seconds of his time.
My Question
" Could the PFHA give a category or exhibit at their shows exclusively for the Puerto Rican Paso Fino Horse Breed."
Mr Edward Smith's Answer
" If Paso Horse Owners and PFHA members desired a category and/or exhibit, and they brought enough horses it is a possibility"

And, it is important to note, that while Confepaso and " Los Abiertos" rules discriminate against  white markings and other characteristics of the Puerto Rican Paso Fino, the PFHA does not.

Thank you again to Mr Ed Smith for your valued time, and of course to the entire PasoVoice and GalopandoTVs teams for giving us the opportunity to ask.
Best Wihes and getting ready for the show this weekend,
Jo-Ann

Very Happy

Jo-Ann,  thank you for your kind words. You are welcome, that this is our purpose at Paso Voice, to bring people together to help the breed!

Saludos!

Felix
