My husband came to visit me at work last Thursday evening. On the way home, in a very remote area, he found a kitten sitting on the white line of the road. He picked him up and brought him home. The kitten was nearly starving, very weak, covered with ticks and fleas. We fed and fed him, gave him a couple of baths, and he looks much better.
Today he went for his first check up. I wanted to make sure he would survive a week (and wanted to watch for signs of rabies), before we exposed him to others. Unfortunately, he tested positive for Feline Leukemia. The vet said that sometimes the illness will "regress", and the cats will test negative if their immune systems are strong enough. We're doing battle with internal parasites, to help his system fight those, and looking at options for the best type of food to give him, to help boost his immune system...plus giving him a supplement we got from the vet.
Please hold good thoughts, if you can...he's a cute little guy, and I just lost my old cat earlier this year. Even if you can't stand me, please help the kitty...he deserves it.
Nikki has taken to him. I think she knows he needs a Mama...he's only about 6 weeks old. She's not quite sure about sharing her people yet, but she likes having a sibling. Thanks for listening.
Here is a short video, for Nikki fans, and those who like cute stuff.
Kerry! That's just adorable! Nikki is so sweet with him. I sure hope he stays healthy for you. He is one lucky kitty to have found you guys!

Thanks Marleen. I know you know where I'm coming from. He's a special kitty. I think we've about settled on a name for him....Waldo.
