2008 Stallion Service Auction2008 Stallion Service AuctionAny offspring of stallions bought through the 2008 Stallion Service Auction are eligible to compete at the Breeders' Sweepstakes Classes at the 2011 Grand National Show. Cash prizes for the 2008 Breeders' Sweepstakes classes were in excess of $40,000! The 2008 Stallion Service Auction has been closed, as of March 1st, to any members who wish to place a bid. Now is the opportunity for stallion owners, who donated a breeding to the 2008 Stallion Service Auction, who did not receive bids after March 1st, to purchase eligibility to the Breeders' Sweepstakes classes for 2011. The stallion owner and the winning bidder will each receive one free nomination to a Breeders' Sweepstakes class. However, any member that has an offspring of an eligible stallion can participate in the Breeders' Sweepstakes class. There is a list of 2008 SSA stallions whose services have already been sold on the PFHA Website at the SSA page. Remember, even though you did not buy the breeding through the SSA program, if you breed to one of these eligible stallions in 2009, their offspring are also candidates for the 2011 Breeders Sweepstakes prizes. An eligible stallion would be one in which a bid was received or the breeding was bought back by the stallion owner during the 2008 SSA program. Breedings to one of these categories of stallions, regardless if you are the owner of the stallion or the winning bidder, will provide you an opportunity to buy into the 2011 Breeders' Sweepstakes with a $200 nomination fee for your 2009 foal.
