1. Committee / Chair:    Membership and Regional -- LAFFERTY, EDWARD -- Chair

Committee Members: Kathy Yarbrough, Richard Lockhart, John Tonetti

2. Meeting : Annual Membership Convention - 1/24/2009 - 1/24/2009 - Four Points by Sheraton Orlando Studio City

3. Goal Statement and Strategies:

The goal of the committee is to get the "Regions" involved in membership renewals. It is imperative that every member of every region take an interest in the growth of the association and this can be done by each region forming a "Membership Committee" whose responsiblity will be to contact each expired membership and encourage them to renew. We are the ones that know our members best and we certainly want them to continue being a part of our regions and the PFHA. We can show those expired members how much we value their participation by contacting them by e-mail, letter or a personal telephone call.

The Membership Committee is open to suggestions from all members. This committee wants to see the PFHA and the Paso Fino Breed grow and this is a possibility when we work together for a common goal.

4. Revision of Goals:
The goals will be revised as new ideas are proposed and implemented. This committee is in need of additional members that is willing to work with the regions to implement and monitor renewal and recuitment projects. Please contact any member of the committee if you have interest in being part of our growth program.

5. Accomplishments:
Each week I receive a report which gives a comparison of memberships not renewed as of the report date vs. the same date one (1) year previous. Based on this report the percentage of non renewed memberships is gradually getting less which indicates that we are having some success in renewals.

6. Critique of ActivitIes:

It was suggested that the office staff contact the expired members and a pilot program was implemented. Three (3) staff members were selected and each contacted 10 - 12 expired memberships and solicited their renewal. The results were less than pleasing. Ladies and Gentlemen......this program will take a lot of time and personal contact from members of each region.

The constant reminder is that all regions must be aware of those memberships that have expired and it's up to the Regional Membership Committee to make contact and encourage them to renew.

7. Recommendation For Goals For Following Year:

1. Each region establish a Membership Committee with dedicated people.
2. Recruit additional members to work as Regional Liasion between Regions and
PFHA Membership/Regional Liasion Committee.
3. Continue to solicit ideas for increasing membership.
4. Each region take advantage of the expiration reports generated by the PFHA.

8. Policy Changes:

The Membership Committee feels that the issue of the combined dues of Membership and PFHW should be re-visited. We know of members lost because they were not given an option but they were forced to subscribe to the PFHW. There are those non show Paso owners that are unhappy with the combo.

9. What would have helped you do a better job?:

1. Have the regions step forward and take the initative to utilize the
generated expiration report and contact their expired members for renewal.
2. Have each region form a "Membership Committee"
3. Inform the PFHA membership secretary (Rodney Wolfe) who should be receiving
copies of the expiration reports.
4. Suggestions from the membership with additional growth ideas.
