2. Meeting : Annual Membership Convention - 1/24/2009 - 1/24/2009 - Four Points by Sheraton Orlando Studio City
3. Goal Statement and Strategies:
The Goal of the Event's Committee is defined in the PFHA Constitution under Article X and is as follows:
This Committee shall consist of three or more members of the Association. The duties of the Committee shall be as follows:
A. Encourage each Regional Group to hold a show a year.
B. Aid Regional Groups in the organization of their shows.
C. Work with Regional Groups to coordinate show dates so as to minimize conflicts and assure the highest possible exhibitor participation in all shows.
D. Promote and assist interbreed shows to hold Paso Fino classes and promote these classes to the membership.
E. Submit plans to improve Association shows to the Board at the end of the show year.
4. Revision of Goals:
5. Accomplishments:
This committee has helped to create and define the new Recreational Riders Committee so that the Association can serve that membership group more efficiently. We also proposed a number of rules changes in the last rules change year which were designed to improve our competitive events. All of said rules changes were passed by the membership. We have also made our committee available to the National Show Committee to assist that committee in any way that we could. This year, in order to continue what the Committee considered to be one of our most important assets in the worldwide promotion of the Paso Fino breed, we donated our entire budget to the Marketing Committee to help pay for the expense involved in having our programs on RFDTV. Since that time, the main work of the Event's Committee has been discussing ideas about how to improve our Regional shows.
6. Critique of ActivitIes:
7. Recommendation For Goals For Following Year:
The main goal for this Committee for the following year should be to present rules change proposals for membership vote that will improve our Regional shows. It is the feeling of the Committee that the Association needs to install greater regulation of not only when and where Regional shows may be held but also how those show may be run. We feel that all shows have been compromised by the loss of the 500 mile rule and the use of multiple judges over many days.
8. Policy Changes:
This Committee recommends that the membership reimplement the 500 mile rule. The Committee also recommends that the Association put some kind of limits on the number of shows that can be held on one given weekend in one given location. The Committee also believes that the Association should look into whether we should continue at all to allow more than one placement be awarded by multiple judges officiating at the same time. The Committee also would like to look into changing the rule pertaining to USEF shows and double points in order to allow for each Region to have only one double pointed show a year while still promoting the use of USEF by the Regions. The Committee feels that it is imperative to create rules change proposals for the next rules change year that will address these issues as our Regional shows are currently on life support and our Regional shows are a good barometer of the health of our Association and our breed promotion in this country.
9. What would have helped you do a better job?:
More hours in the day, more days in the months, more months in the year and more energy in myself.
