Here is Cascabel! He is considered a LEGEND! here you will see the OLD Style Trote Galope! with cadence! something most are lacking today!
Good News! Colombia is preserving and is willing to educate and work in correcting mistakes! So! we might see the Trote Galope getting slower in the future like it should be!
Thank you for posting that. I'm always interested in learning more. I have a couple of questions.
How old is Cascabel or rather what year was the video taken?
I see in the video that he has very high elevation of his front legs in the Trote. Very impressive. Also, it seems the speed of the footfalls is not as rapid as I have seen in some Colombian show videos from a few years back. In this video, the 2 beat "marching" trote gait is very clear and he seems to have a slower forward speed. I have watched some recent show videos and it seems like the Trote y Galopes today are looking more like Cascabel. You mention this is "Old" Trote. Could you explain that a little more? How about some videos showing the differences?
Also, are there any "trends" as far as the Galope is concerned? Although, I don't really know what or how you could change that on a horse...
I couldn't tell if Cascabel was changing leads in the serpentine because the video was kind of dark. I think I saw at least one change.
I'll have to confess I have not paid any serious attention to the TYG horses because I don't see a flavor I like often; but, this I like very much.
The musical quality of the footfall is (personally for me) one of the top criterion for a paso horse. To me, it is as important or more so than the technical expression of the gait as in "isochronic" or not. I'll take slow percision over quick flash any day.
